Encourage the youth you know to apply for one of three $1000 scholarships to be awarded by Excel FCU.
We are committed to seeing our community thrive. We are committed to seeing the youth in our credit union community thrive as well. As part of that commitment to our future, we proudly award three $1000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors each year. The demonstration of academic excellence, community involvement, extracurricular activities and philanthropic greatness exhibited by the applications we receive is unparalleled and impressive each year.
Submissions are made online with the essay portion being answered in a video format. As Excel is heavily invested in the communities we serve this year’s applicants will answer this multi-faceted question:
What does community mean to you? How have you invested in community to this point? What plans do you envision to invest in community during your educational pursuits and as you begin your life journey post-graduation from college?
As a member of the credit union, you can encourage the youth you know to apply for the 2025 Excel Federal Credit Union Scholarship. Show interest in your grandchildren. Your children. And those in our community…by making them aware of the ease of applying. If you are not a member, do the same and brighten the lives of those you know. Show some interest. Be a mentor. A little encouragement can go a long way. If there is a graduating high school senior you know be that spark and offer encouragement to apply.
Applications will be available on our website beginning January 2025 as well as a full set of guidelines and requirements to apply. Applications must be complete to be reviewed and accepted. An objective outside organization will be reviewing all applications and video essays in determining who the recipients are.

New Year, Same Scams
There are several financial scams that rise in occurrence at the beginning of each year. These are schemes that promise quick or easy money and typically involve pressuring you to act quickly. As we ease into 2025, keep these prevention tips in mind so you don’t fall victim:
- Fake prizes: Be wary of notifications claiming you’ve won a large prize, especially if it requires you to pay upfront fees to claim it.
- Online shopping fraud: Always check website legitimacy before making a purchase and be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true.
- Phishing emails: Never click on suspicious links in emails, and never provide personal information unless you’re sure the sender is legitimate.
- Job scams: Research potential employers thoroughly, and never pay for job applications or training materials upfront.
- Imposter scams: Be vigilant about anyone contacting you claiming to be from a trusted organization such as the credit union, asking for personal information.
- Charity scams: Verify the legitimacy of a charity before donating, and never give out personal details to unknown organizations.
- Investment scams: Remain cautious of high-pressure investment opportunities with promises of quick returns, always do your research and/or speak with a professional.
